Mission » Feed My Starving Children
We most recently served at Feed My Starving Children on March 28, 2015.
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Feed My Starving Children event that took place on April 6, 2013. For most of us, the journey started at about 7:00am on a Saturday morning and finished up around 12:00pm. That is a total of five hours…only about two hours constructing food packets and three hours of fellowship. We arrived at the destination in plenty of time to mingle and learn how to make the packets. “Chicken, veggies, soy, and rice,” is what we learned went into the packets and in that order. It was a joy and an honor all in one to create many meals for so many people, whom I will never have the pleasure of meeting. These are the experiences for me that foster my growth and love for Jesus Christ. I am reminded that even though we cannot SEE Jesus, we can “see” him in the work that we do in the world spreading his love to others. We will never see the 64 children that will get one meal a day for a year because of our work, but we will see the smiles and feel the love of others around us because of Jesus’ light shining through us and around us. (written by Kelly Miller)
In the Bible there are many verses that support what 27 of us participated in:
Philippians 2:2; Matthew 25:35; Proverbs 22:9
Matthew 25:35 ...for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me...
Philippians 2:2 ...make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.
